Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani says the overbearing influence of Governor Nasir El-Rufai on President Muhammadu Buhari and APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole is responsible for his failure to get the party’s Senatorial ticket and subsequent decision to leave the party.
Speaking on Channels TV a while ago, Senator Sani stated that his decision to remain in the APC was influenced by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, President Buhari – who assured him of a level playing field in the senatorial primaries and his constituents who urged him to remain in the APC at the time.
“When my colleagues(Senators) moved, they said they were going home because there were members of the PDP. I was never of the PDP”.
Senator Sani who accused Governor El-Rufai of trying to preserve the Kaduna central seat for himself in 2023 also said he is sure of winning the senatorial elections if the APC government can conduct a free elections in 2019. “A lot of parties including the PRP offered me their ticket to go back to the Senate. I am happy to return to the People’s Redemption Party(PRP), it is my home and the home of my father’s.”
Senator Sani also added that the APC which promised to change Nigeria has failed to change itself resulting in the series of protests from the party primaries across the nation, stating categorically that the party will not outlive President Buhari because it has failed Nigerians.
